Classical CPG Brand-Led Innovation Processes

As Head of Innovation for the $2 Billion Kellogg Snacks Division, Keith directed a 60-person cross-functional team which created, developed and commercialized 38 new food product initiatives across the wholesome snacks, cookies and cracker categories. 

He tripled revenue contribution from new products to nearly 15% of division sales, and exceed his sales
                                                           budget by over $90 million.

                                                           Keith reinvented the Kellogg Snacks Division innovation processes & strategy to focus on bigger & better
                                                           innovations, improve visibility, foster cross-functional alignment, and increase accountability.  

                                                           As a result, Keith doubled, to 100%, the rate of launches that met financial hurdles.  Average year 1 revenue
                                                           per launch increased by 10%, and incidence of highly time compressed projects decreased by over 50%. 

New Venture Development Innovation Processes

Keith joined Keebler shortly after $500M LBO, leading key marketing & strategy functions contributing to its sale to Kellogg for $4.5B four years later. 

One of these strategic roles was to create and lead a new Corporate New Ventures Group, reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer.

Keith created an entrepreneurial & collaborative new venture development and innovation process that identified significant growth platform opportunities for Keebler beyond traditional cookies & crackers.

Life Sciences Innovation Processes

Cherry Street was the external innovation partner for the new business venture arm of a  $35 Billion healthcare and life sciences for several years.  We led the process to identify and develop major new business platforms for the company in the areas of health, nutrition and wellness. 

The General Manager of the New Venture Group asked Cherry Street Innovation to run along side his team and create innovation processes that would result in the identification of very large market opportunities, and then direct the initiatives through all phases of the new venture development process from concept & product development through business plan development. 

                                                         Cherry Street led the identification, validation and development of three major new business platforms
                                                         built upon innovations in wellness, nutrition and nutrition ingredient technologies.  These new ventures  
                                                         leveraged the company's 
BioScience capabilities, technology platforms, brands and competencies.

Non-Profit Innovation Processes

We directed strategy for the non-profit Ardmore Institute of Health.

We instituted a innovation processes that included a formal screening & approval protocol for initiating new projects, a system to create accountability for achieving key milestones, and visibility for Executive Leadership to understand status of key initiatives and help address major obstacles.
